The three peer-reviewed journals, Byzantina Symmeikta, Tekmeria, Newsletter, have publication processes that function according to the highest international standards for each discipline:

• They possess international advisory boards
• The possess policies and processes that are available for all to examine in the websites
• They publish original research after a blind peer-review process
• The entirety of their new content is open access ("gold road")
• Authors who publish with these journals maintain copyright of their work
• Articles from past issues are freely accessible, as long as author permissions have been granted
• Each journals published in at least two languages, as is common in the Humanities, and the web interface is also multilingual

All three journals have been included in the Directory of Open Access Journals since 2009, while through DOAJ care is taken for the long-term preservation of the electronic files at the e-depot of the National Library of the Netherlands.

Past issues of the three journals were digitized and a significant part of them is openly accessible in the web. Indicatively, 419 articles of past issues were digitized, of which 294 are openly accessible through the journals websites (January 2010). The openly accessible articles feature a full-text search utility.

The open-source internet-based journal management system (OJS), on which the journals are based, supports the web-based management of the entire editorial process, as well as the online submission and review of papers.
