True to its cause to contribute substantially to openly accessible scientific knowledge in order to intensify research, innovation and competitiveness, EKT decided to render the "gold road" to Open Access, that is open access journals, as one of the two main components of the  project ‘'National Information Research and Technology System- 3rd Phase, Repositories and Scientific Open Access E-Journals''

To implement the "gold road" to Open Access existing print journals of the three Humanities institutes of NHRF were chosen, and they formed the core of the project.

The development of open access journals had the following goals:
• To provide open access to high-quality research
• To promote the research and academic community by improving access and appeal of the research
• To provide open access to publicly funded research
• To promote the significant research output of NHRF
• To preserve of the research output of NHRF
• To simplify the publication process while maintaining a high quality
• To reduce publication time that is typical of print journals in the humanities
• To reduce research publication costs
